Renaud Lavillenie misses home Olympics in Paris.
The pole vaulter – whose big goal and farewell performance has been the summer games in France – failed to qualify during the French championships.
The 37-year-old needed to clear 5.82 meters but was knocked out at 5.72.
Lavillenie won Olympic gold in London 2012, set a world record in 2014, and took silver in Rio de Janeiro two years later.
