2015 was the year when Måns Zelmerlöw won Melodifestivalen, and later also the Eurovision Song Contest, with "Heroes". On fourth place came Hasse "Kvinnaböske" Andersson's "Guld och gröna skogar" – and the song became such a success that many in hindsight believe it was the one that won.
The song became the most streamed contribution in the festival's history – and a phenomenon among both adults and children.
It's still children who call and write to me every week. Children who weren't even born when the song was released! I've become a kind of grandfather to them and I think that's really fun, says Andersson to TT.
He himself was unprepared for "Guld och gröna skogar" to become such a success:
I of course knew that I liked it – it's happy and positive and a fun song. But I couldn't imagine that it would get the incredible reception it got. It was played at daycare centers and schools, in hot rod cars and farm tractors, and at nursing homes.
Now Andersson looks forward to getting to play it again in a Melodifestival context, as one of the interval acts, and in his hometown Malmö.
It has something that appeals to people. It's light and a little catchy, and that's something we can really use in today's times, he says.
