"Tuesday, February 4, will forever mark a dark day in Swedish history. Today, people have woken up to unbearable sorrow and pain. For those who have lost a loved one, life will never be the same again", he says in a press release.

"We are a nation in mourning and we must all come together - as a nation, as fellow human beings, and as leaders of the parties in the Riksdag. Together, we must help the injured and the relatives to bear the sorrow and the weight of this day. That's why it's important for me to invite the Riksdag party leaders to the meeting tomorrow", says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

A national minute of silence will be held later, according to the government.
