EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has been on a visit to Sweden and talked about forestry. After that, she will receive support from Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
The visit took place at Östhamra Manor in Knivsta, south of Uppsala. There, EU's most powerful woman walked around with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) and Minister of Energy and Enterprise Ebba Busch (KD).
Forestry owner Gustaf Silén received them and was clear that EU regulations affect how he wants to manage his forest.
He is critical of regulations that, among other things, do not allow him to cut down old trees.
Ursula von der Leyen received a guided tour of the fields. She is out seeking support among the EU's 27 member states for a second term as President of the European Commission.
Ulf Kristersson says he supports von der Leyen and wants her to stay on. Whether this is due to promises she has made regarding forestry policy is unclear.
It seems von der Leyen has taken note of the visit and what the forestry owner presented.
The most important thing for Gustaf Silén is to make his business profitable. A large part of the products he sells go into paper pulp.
Ebba Busch calls the trees around her "climate heroes" and wants the EU to interfere less in what Sweden does with its Swedish forests.
