On Wednesday morning, the police decided to scale up the search according to the law on protection against accidents (LSO). This means, among other things, that more resources can be used.
The Home Guard is helping the police in the search. Both the Coast Guard and volunteers are flying over the search area in Tving in Blekinge.
Prioritizing for us is to locate the man's car. As soon as we have done that, the search area will be limited, because right now it is very large, says Evelina Olsson, press spokesperson at the police in Region South.
The police are urging people who have game cameras set up in the search area to check them to see if the man or his car has been caught on them.
The search for the man has been going on since Tuesday, but has so far been unsuccessful. The operation will continue throughout the night and on Thursday morning, the police write on their website.
The man had been at Kallinge airport on Tuesday morning and drove away from there in a Dacia Logan car. The police believe he was on his way to his home in Tingsryd municipality, but that he then drove wrong.
He was in contact with his wife via mobile phone on Tuesday afternoon and then also with the police.
We had contact with the man, but then it was broken. The battery ran out. He said himself that he had gotten stuck, says the police's press spokesperson Leif Fransson.
