A 17-year-old boy who acted as the shooter is sentenced to prison for eight years for murder. He is also sentenced for serious weapons offenses and serious offenses against the law on flammable goods.
Aggravating circumstances
"There are many aggravating circumstances surrounding the murder, and the sentence for someone who was 18 years or older would have been life imprisonment. Due to his age, the sentence is set to eight years in prison," says magistrate Jacob Heister according to a press release.
Another 17-year-old is sentenced for incitement to murder for having recruited the shooter. He is also sentenced for involving other minors in crime. The sentence is set to closed youth care for four years.
Another man in his 30s is sentenced to ten years in prison for aiding and abetting murder and narcotics offenses.
"Extremely reckless"
The fatal shooting occurred in southern Malmö last October.
The father of small children, a man in his 50s, was shot when he was going to confront the then 16-year-old shooter who had entered his home with an automatic weapon.
In the apartment were his wife and their two school-aged children, one of whom was having a birthday that day.
Prosecutor Mårten Alvinsson has previously described the act as "extremely reckless" and pointed out that there is nothing to suggest that the man, who was previously unconvicted, was the actual target.
