For our part, such a decision would be clearly unacceptable, as it would be threatening to us, and it would not eliminate the root cause of what is happening now, says Dmitrij Peskov according to Russian media.

With this, the spokesperson refers to Russia's motives for launching the "military special operation", the large-scale invasion war of Ukraine.

Russia will continue with the military special operation until all its goals have been achieved, says Peskov.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj hinted in an interview with British Sky News over the weekend that he was open to a ceasefire in the war if the non-occupied part of Ukraine were to be brought "under NATO's umbrella".

The war is at the top of the agenda when NATO's foreign ministers meet in Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday.
