The American rapper Kendrick Lamar has released a new album without announcing it beforehand.
”GNX” with twelve tracks is the rapper's first album release since ”Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” in 2022 and his sixth studio album. It also comes just a few months after his rap battle with Drake.
Lamar, 37, has had enormous success since his debut album ”Good kid, m.a.a.d city” in 2012. Since then, he has won 17 Grammys and become the first non-classical, non-jazz musician to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for the album ”Damn” in 2017.
The surprise release concludes a big year for Lamar, who participated in the song ”Like that” which topped Billboard's 100-list for three weeks in 2024. He also had another hit with the song ”Not like us” originating from the feud with Drake.
