It would have been the first private flight around the moon. Now, Yusaku Maezawa's notable space trip is being cancelled, his team announces.

"To all who have supported this project and looked forward to the adventure – we truly appreciate it and apologize for this outcome", they write on their site according to South China Morning Post.

The trip would have been made with a spacecraft from Elon Musk's Space X with a number of celebrities on board, including DJ and music producer Steve Aoki and American YouTuber Tim Dodd. The lunar tour would have lasted around six days.

In 2021, the modem billionaire Maezawa traveled to the International Space Station (ISS), a trip he is said to have paid around $760 million for.

No concrete reason for the cancelled moon trip is given.
