Former Foreign Minister Carl Bildt compared the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Putin on X. This is not appreciated by Israel's ambassador to Sweden, reports Svenska Dagbladet.

Bildt's post on X was prompted by an image from a press conference where Netanyahu points to a map that lacks a border between Israel and the West Bank.

On Netanyahu's map, Israel has already annexed the entire West Bank, commented the former Foreign Minister, who continued that Netanyahu's view on international law apparently does not differ from Putin's. Putin has illegally annexed Crimea and parts of eastern Ukraine.

In a statement to SvD, Israel's ambassador Ziv Nevo Kulman writes that Bildt "instead of constantly criticizing Israel with absurd comparisons" should direct his energy towards "Palestinian maps and Iranian leaders who advocate for the eradication of the state of Israel".

Four hours after Bildt's publication on X, the post had received over 75,000 views.
