After the attacks in September when hundreds of pagers and walkie-talkies linked to the extremist group Hezbollah exploded, Iran has now decided to ban communication equipment on flights in the country.
The ban applies to "all electronic communication devices, with the exception of mobile phones", says a spokesperson for Iran's civil aviation authority, according to the state-controlled news agency ISNA.
At least 39 people were killed and 3,000 people injured when pagers and walkie-talkies exploded in Lebanon a few weeks ago. The exploding equipment mainly belonged to individuals with ties to Iran-allied Hezbollah.
Both Hezbollah and Iran have accused Israel of the attack.
The ban on the equipment applies to both checked luggage and hand luggage. After the attack, the airline Emirates has also introduced similar restrictions.
