I am not optimistic. Right now, I do not see a meeting between Zelenskyj, Putin and Trump as a possibility, says Stubb at a press conference on Åland, according to Yle.

The President of the USA, Donald Trump, stated last week that he has ”begun to prepare” a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia, and claimed that Putin said yes to a meeting. Later, it is reported that Trump backed down and the American line is supposed to have been that Putin and Zelenskyj will organize a meeting on their own.

Stubb, who participated in last week's top meeting on Ukraine in Washington DC, says on Monday that he currently has no plans to meet Putin, but that he has regular contact with both Trump and Zelenskyj.

The negotiations about peace in Ukraine continue with diplomacy and talks. When we were in Washington DC, our goal was to maintain the peace process and ensure that things are moving in a better direction and there I think we succeeded, especially in the relationship between Trump and Zelenskyj, he says.
