Iran bans walkie-talkies on flights
After the attacks in September when hundreds of pagers and walkie-talkies linked to the extremist group Hezbollah exploded, Iran has now decided to ban communication equipment on flights in the country. The ban applies to "all electronic communication devices, with the exception of mobile phones", says a spokesperson for Iran's civil aviation authority, according to the state-controlled news agency ISNA.
Emirates bans personal radios and walkie-talkies on board
The Dubai-based airline Emirates is banning personal radios and walkie-talkies on board following the attack on thousands of personal radios in Lebanon recently. "All passengers on flights to, from, or via Dubai are prohibited from bringing personal radios and walkie-talkies in checked or hand luggage," the company writes on its website.
Airline stops travel to Lebanon
International airlines have cancelled a large number of flights to Lebanon since the crisis escalated between Hezbollah and Israel. Earlier, many airlines had already reduced air traffic to mainly Lebanon, but several companies have also avoided flying to Tel Aviv in Israel or Tehran, Iran's capital.
