To be an inexperienced skier is not a criminal offense. A man who was prosecuted after he collided with a woman on a ski slope in Åre is acquitted by the district court, writes Östersunds-Posten.

The accident occurred last spring. The man, who is in his 25-year-old, has stated that he had never skied downhill before but practiced in other slopes the same day as the accident occurred.

The collision resulted in the woman who was hit suffering a fracture in her knee.

The man was prosecuted for causing bodily harm, but the district court does not believe that he was negligent, rather inexperienced.

The accident occurred on a so-called blue slope, and according to the court, it was not obvious that he would understand that it was a more difficult slope.

The man has agreed to pay 10,000 kronor in damages to the injured woman.
