India's government is urging Russia to return Indian citizens who were lured into joining the Russian invasion forces in Ukraine.
At least two Indians have died in the war so far this year, as far as is known. India's Foreign Ministry announces that it is in contact with Russian colleagues to have the remains of the deceased sent to India.
India's federal investigative agency has previously announced that at least 35 Indians were lured to Russia with promises of job opportunities, only to be sent to the military ranks through suspected human trafficking.
I want to assure you that the Indian government has taken this very seriously, says Foreign Minister Vinay Kwatra at a press conference.
Sri Lanka and Nepal have also reacted since it emerged that at least a dozen Sri Lankans and Nepalis have died as soldiers in the Russian army.
