The band motivated its decision to leave Spotify via Instagram on July 24 and wrote that "Spotify uses music money to invest in war drones", and urged their fans to cancel their subscriptions.
The boycott connects to other artists' protests. It comes after Helsing – a Munich-based company that develops drones and AI for military operations – has received 6.9 billion kronor in its latest investment round, led by Spotify's founder Daniel Ek and his investment company Prima Materia.
The band Deerhoof has also recently removed its catalog from Spotify for the same reason.
