The man claimed to be an ambassador for countries such as West Arktis, Seborga, Poulvia and Ladonien. All the countries are fictitious or self-proclaimed micronations. Among other things, Ladonien was proclaimed as an "independent state" by the Swedish artist Lars Vilks in Kullabergs nature reserve in 1996.

The suspected scammer is said to have driven around in luxury cars with fake diplomatic plates and shared manipulated pictures of himself with well-known Indian politicians to substantiate his claims.

"He has mainly pretended to function as an intermediary to secure work abroad for companies and private individuals", said the police in a statement after the arrest earlier in the week.

The man is also suspected of money laundering. During a raid at his home, among other things, the equivalent of just over half a million kronor in cash was found, as well as fake passports and documents with stamps from the Indian Foreign Ministry.

It is unclear how the 47-year-old responds to the allegations.
