Torrential rain, thunder and lightning have forced Ullevi to evacuate.
"Due to the current situation, we are pausing the concert and will return with more information as soon as possible," a voice said over the loudspeaker system, according to Aftonbladet.
"We stood for a long time without any information at all. It's chaos and people are booing," visitor Ellinor told Aftonbladet.
Money in the lake
Afterwards, the news came that the concert had been canceled.
Swedish House Mafia never got to go on stage and commented via their Instagram: "Due to severe weather conditions, tonight's concert has unfortunately been cancelled. The safety of our audience, our artists and staff is our top priority."
Friday's concert was one of two planned for the weekend. Many in the evening's audience are frustrated and wonder if they will be compensated. In GP's live chat, the user Pia writes: "Four girls from Stockholm have also spent 6,000 on hotels and travel in addition to the tickets. Over ten thousand in the lake."
Swedish House Mafia announced around midnight that the group will now hold a free concert at Götaplatsen on Saturday. It also states that Saturday's planned concert at Ullevi will take place as planned, according to a post on Instagram.
Crisis meeting
SMHI has issued a yellow warning for Gothenburg, which means severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and a risk of strong gusts of wind.
The warning is valid from 9:00 PM on Friday evening until midnight, and the reason, according to SMHI, is that "a severe thunderstorm in the Kattegat is moving north over Gothenburg."
According to GP, Göteborgskalaset also says its management is in an emergency meeting and is pausing its entire programme because of the storm, including a planned gig with Teddybears at Götaplatsen.
"It is very sad, but we must prioritise the safety of the audience, artists and staff," Göteborgskalaset's press communicator wrote in a text message to GP.
