Already on Thursday, Richard Jomshof will be back as chairman of the Riksdag's Justice Committee. Last week, he took a break after being suspected of incitement against an ethnic group.
But now the prosecutor has announced that the preliminary investigation is being dropped.
I'm relieved and grateful that it's been dropped, says Jomshof to TT.
Richard Jomshof was investigated for sharing two images on X, formerly Twitter. The question was whether he had committed incitement against an ethnic group.
Not intended to offend
Do you see the message as proof that you haven't gone too far in your posts?
First and foremost, it's proof that Swedish freedom of speech is far-reaching, and we should be very grateful for that, he says.
My intention has not been to offend anyone, but to create a debate.
The opposition parties believe that Richard Jomshof is unfit to be chairman of the Justice Committee. They criticize him for using the position as a platform to spread hate and divide different groups in society.
"The problems with Islamism"
But Jomshof doesn't intend to change his debating style or how he expresses himself on social media.
I'll continue to do what I've always done and discuss and debate the issues I think are important, not least the large-scale immigration from the Middle East and Africa and the problems with Islamism, he says.
But of course, you learn from such an event.
Exactly what lessons he will take away or what impact it will have on him, he doesn't know.
But of course, you could, for example, have an explanatory text for such an image in the future to avoid misunderstandings and more clearly show what I mean, he says.
But there will always be those who want to misunderstand.
