Bik Karlskoga's forward Simen André Edvardsen was taken to hospital after an injury that occurred during the team's training on Monday.
The club writes on its website that the Norwegian player was hit by his own skate, and was then taken to hospital by ambulance. There, Edvardsen underwent acute surgery.
The 25-year-old spent the night at the hospital before being discharged on Tuesday.
"After excellent efforts by both teammates and leaders, the bleeding had been stopped when the ambulance arrived. Edvardsen is doing okay considering the circumstances", writes Karlskoga.
The player will not be available for play "in the coming weeks", the club writes further.
Edvardsen joined Karlskoga from Storhamar before last season.
