Hector far from the top: "It sucks"

Sara Hector has never been on the podium in Sölden's alpine premiere competition. And it didn't happen this year either. The Swedish giant slalom star finished in 15th place.

It's clear that I'm disappointed. I probably had the wrong mindset, I didn't believe in myself today and then it's not possible to ski well, she says to Viaplay.

It's obviously extremely disappointing to start extremely badly. This is the worst start in a long time. It sucks.

Last year, she finished fourth in the premiere on the Rettenbach glacier above Sölden in Austria.

Hector, who took OS gold in giant slalom in 2022, says that she hasn't skied well in training the last few days. She was eighth after the first run. And in the second, she had the 20th best time and finished 15th.

It didn't become the 98th victory for the superstar Mikaela Shiffrin either. The American led after the first run, but finished fifth after having the 27th best time, out of 30 skiers, in the second run.

Italian Federica Brignone won, 35 hundredths ahead of Alice Robinson, New Zealand, and 93 ahead of Julia Scheib, Austria.
