The Islamist movement Hamas takes responsibility for Tuesday's shooting in Jaffa in southern Tel Aviv, where seven people were killed. This is reported by the news agency Reuters.

Seven people were killed and several injured when two men opened fire on people waiting at a tram stop in Jaffa, Israel, on Tuesday evening.

The perpetrators were "neutralized" on the spot, according to a statement from the Tel Aviv police – which regards the shooting as a terrorist attack.

In the statement, the police write that those who were shot to death were civilians and that at least seven people were treated for injuries of varying severity.
