Already next year, Halland may get more wolf territories.
The litter of five pups born in April/May in Halland's only wolf territory around Simlångsdalen will then be ready to leave home – and researchers believe they will stay in the region, reports Sveriges radio Ekot.
Then there is a high risk that some of these pups will settle nearby, and especially the female pups don't go too far without trying to find an area that suits them. And there is plenty to choose from within the borders between Småland and Halland, says Olof Liberg at Grimsö research station.
A wolf pup usually leaves its parental territory already when they are between one to two years old.
