The Greenlandic governing party Siumut wants a referendum on independence, says party leader Erik Jensen in an interview with DR.

That's what we would like to achieve. That's our ambition. But of course, it must be done in cooperation with the Greenlandic population. And that's very important. So that there's no doubt about what you're voting for, he says.

The referendum is planned to take place during the next term of office.

Greenland goes to the polls on March 11, and the next term of office will last four years after that.
