After the warmest winter and earliest heat wave on record, Greek authorities are warning of a risk of water shortage this summer.
The capital city of Athens' primary water reserve is down 30 percent lower than the same time last year.
"Do you want some water? Turn off the tap!", is the appeal to the city's residents.
In other parts of the Greek archipelago, the situation is even more acute. Many of the islands are dependent on wells and desalination plants to meet their water needs, and the pressure on the islands is increasing as tourists travel to Greece.
In some areas, the water need in the summer is "100 times greater than in the winter", says an expert who spoke to the AFP news agency.
