The French film director Benoît Jacquot is being prosecuted for rape, announces the prosecutor's office in Paris.
The 77-year-old prominent art house director is accused, according to the indictment, of having raped the actresses Julia Roy, now 34, in 2013 and Isild Le Besco, now 41, between 1998 and 2000.
The suspicions against Jacquot were revealed after the actress Judith Godrèche earlier this year accused Jacquot of having raped her during their relationship, which began when she was a minor. After that, the two other actresses also came forward with similar accusations.
Jacquot will be released from custody after two days of questioning, but will remain under judicial supervision, according to the prosecutor.
