The USA's incoming president Donald Trump did not withdraw his threat of punitive tariffs on Danish goods during a phone call with Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Wednesday.
This was stated by Frederiksen at a press conference.
It has been hinted from the American side that, unfortunately, a situation may arise where we cooperate less than we do today in the economic area. This is not something we strive for in any way, she says.
We do not wish for any form of conflict with the Americans in the trade area.
Trump has threatened Denmark with punitive tariffs in connection with him once again taking up his interest in taking over Greenland. He has also said that a military intervention to ensure influence over the strategically important area is not ruled out.
