The French Football Association is reporting Argentina to the International Football Association (Fifa) for the racist and homophobic chants sung by the national team players after their victory in the Copa América.
In a live video posted by Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández on Instagram, several Argentine players could be heard singing that the French players are actually from Angola.
Philippe Diallo, chairman of the French Football Association, says in a statement that he strongly condemns the racist and discriminatory remarks against players in the French team.
The chant occurred in connection with Argentina's World Championship final victory over France in Qatar 2022. Among others, superstar Kylian Mbappé was targeted.
"Pathetic. The behavior is even more unacceptable since it was repeated", writes France's Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera on X.
