Fridolina Rolfö Joins Manchester United Women's Team

National team star Fridolina Rolfö, 31, broke the contract with FC Barcelona earlier in the summer after four years in the club. Now she is clear for the English top club Manchester United, they confirm in their channels.

”I'm really excited to join Manchester United, not just because of the size of the club and its history, but also to be a part of the journey the club is on in the women's team”, says Rolfö to the club's website.

”She will bring quality and experience to our squad. We are really happy to welcome Fridolina to Manchester United”, says the club's sports manager Matt Johnson.

Rolfö is one of the Swedish national team's most important players, and has made 101 international appearances in the blue and yellow jersey. In those matches, she has scored 33 goals.

In a joint decision, Rolfö and Barcelona chose to terminate the contract a year in advance before the European Championship in Switzerland. The Swede scored 38 goals and 37 assists in 129 appearances for the Spanish giant, and there were a lot of titles. During the time Rolfö was in Barcelona, they won four league titles and three cup titles, they won the super cup four times, and the Champions League twice.

The 31-year-old has previously played for, among others, Linköping, Bayern München and Wolfsburg.
