The Norwegian elite league football match between Rosenborg and Lillestrøm on Sunday was interrupted several times after the audience threw fish balls and tennis balls onto the pitch. Even Bengal lights were lit on the stands at Lerkendal Stadium in Trondheim and the match has been postponed to a later date.
The protest, which has become a world news story, is the latest in a series against the introduction of the assistant video referee system, VAR, in Norwegian football last year.
Lillestrøm is one of the clubs that has been most critical of the introduction of VAR. In several of the team's league matches, tennis balls have been thrown onto the pitch as a protest.
