The fire that broke out in the morning at the tax department in Copenhagen is now under control, report Danish media. According to the fire brigade, it was a severe roof fire.
On images from the scene, thick, black smoke was seen rising towards the sky.
The people in the building were quickly evacuated, including Finance Minister Jeppe Bruus (S). In images he published on X, a crowd of people are seen gathered on a lawn while smoke billows from the building in the background.
The tax department in the Christianshavn district is a stone's throw from the historic Børsen, which was devastated in a severe fire in April.
Corrected: In an earlier version of the text, there was an incorrect statement about which department the fire broke out in, as well as Jeppe Bruus's title.
