Elderly individuals who currently receive assistance with shopping from the home care service in Hässleholm Municipality will henceforth shop for their groceries online, reports Norra Skåne.
The purpose is to give care staff time for other tasks rather than going shopping.
As of 1 October, the municipality is introducing the new arrangement, which means that affected individuals will shop digitally once a week, possibly with the assistance of home care staff.
Besides the fact that elderly people do not always own a computer or are computer literate, they may incur an additional cost in the form of a picking fee or for home delivery. Furthermore, several shops within the municipality do not offer online shopping.
Those who wish to participate and shop, or shop more frequently than once a week, will be able to do so if, for example, they have been granted the social interaction benefit, writes the newspaper.
