Last week, 233,000 people registered as unemployed in the USA, according to the American labour market authority. This was a decrease from the previous week when 250,000 people were registered as unemployed.
Analysts had expected a higher weekly figure, 240,000 people.
The market has been on high alert ahead of today's statistics following last week's weak American job figures, which caused the stock exchanges to plummet sharply.
Today's message was received positively, including on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Leading indexes on Wall Street are also rising in early trading.
