The editor-in-chief of Göteborgs-Posten, Christofer Ahlqvist, tells Sveriges Radio Kulturnytt that AI may come to compensate for the staff cuts that the newspaper recently announced.
I think that regardless of whether we had become fewer or not, we would have used AI more and more, I am completely convinced of that. Now we will be able to use it to hopefully in the future be able to compensate for some of the resources that are now decreasing.
He is at the same time clear that the cuts are not due to the newspaper's use of AI.
Earlier in the week, the media house Stampen announced that they will cut 60 positions, of which 16 are at Göteborgs-Posten. The savings come after, among other things, a decline in advertising revenue for the paper newspapers.
