The Social Democrat Elina Backlund Arab in Region Västernorrland resigned from her assignments since she fell in love with her political opponent Robert Thunfors, party leader for the Healthcare Party. Now he is also resigning, according to Sundsvalls Tidning.

We received the message on Monday, says the Healthcare Party's new chairperson Ingela Korhonen, to the newspaper.

Thunfors was initially suspended from the party when the relationship became known at the end of October, but was reinstated as chairperson after just a few days. Now he himself has requested to resign.

Robert Thunfors has not commented on his decision.
