After the discovery that fake passports had been manufactured with the help of police equipment in Norrköping, the verdict against the three individuals who were prosecuted was announced on Friday.
A former civilian employee of the police was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for aggravated forgery, data intrusion, and perjury, according to P4 Östergötland.
Two individuals, not police employees, were also sentenced to one year and three months for aggravated forgery, and a conditional sentence and day fines for aiding and abetting aggravated forgery, respectively.
One of the fake passports was discovered by German authorities when a person from Syria used it to enter the EU from Dubai. During the interrogation, the handler stated that she wanted to help a relative of an acquaintance to enter Sweden.
