There are several pubs in the area and many residents were still awake at the time. Several people heard the loud bang and saw people running away from there.
It could be both people who got scared and ran or potential perpetrators, says Thomas Fuxborg, press spokesperson for the police in Region West.
The alarm came at 00.30 when there were still many people moving around in the area.
Considering the time, it could easily have happened that a passerby got hurt. Luckily, it didn't happen, says Fuxborg.
The incident is being investigated as general endangerment. Some windows were smashed and the entrance door to the store is said to have been damaged. According to the police, it is likely that what detonated was some kind of pipe bomb.
The motive behind the act is still unknown, but the police state that they will be questioning several people during the day.
The police bomb technicians worked on the site during the night, and by early morning, the cordons were lifted. No one has been arrested.
