In three days, the multisick patient waited to have their leg examined. But the examination was delayed and the patient chose to leave the hospital without treatment. One and a half months later, the lower leg had to be amputated.
Region Västerbotten has reported the incident to the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (Ivo) for investigation under lex Maria.
The patient was being treated at the hospital for a wound infection and impaired circulation in one leg and was transferred to another hospital for angiography and possible treatment to avoid amputation. But when the examination took too long, the patient chose to go home.
