The package, if it goes ahead despite expected resistance from Hungary, would be one of the larger ones that the EU has assisted Ukraine with since the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine nearly three years ago.
The package would, according to Politico, consist of both money, artillery shells, air defense systems, and other materiel. It would be a way to strengthen Ukraine's position when the US and Russia are negotiating Ukraine's future, without the country being allowed to participate.
It is not clear when it can be packed or presented, but it could happen before a number of EU commissioners' visit to Kyiv on February 24, three years after Russia's full-scale attack on Ukraine.
