Iran claims to be working with China and Russia to prevent the reintroduction of European sanctions due to the country's nuclear energy program.

–We are working with China and Russia to prevent it. If this does not work and they apply it, we have tools to respond with. We will discuss them in due time, said Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to state television.

The United Kingdom, France, and Germany told UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday that they are ready to reintroduce sanctions against Tehran if there is no diplomatic solution by the end of August.

Araghchi says that a reintroduction of sanctions would be "negative" but that the predicted economic effects "have been exaggerated".
