I believe I am needed in Brussels and have more to achieve there, says Wiesner to the newspaper.
Wiesner has been one of the favorites to take over after Center Party leader Muharrem Demirok, who recently announced his resignation.
Other names mentioned as successors are Member of Parliament Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist (who lost to Demirok in the previous party leader election), LRF's CEO Anna-Karin Hatt and group leader in Parliament Daniel Bäckström. The former economic-political spokesperson Emil Källström has already said he is not interested.
Anna-Karin Hatt, former Minister for the Center Party, does not explicitly rule out the possibility of becoming the new party leader.
It's a purely hypothetical question for me right now, so I have no reason to relate to it at present, says Hatt to SVT.
Emma Wiesner does not want to say who she herself wants to see as the next party leader.
There are many good names being discussed within the party. For me, it's more important what that person delivers rather than who it becomes, says she to DN.
Hanna Wagenius, former CUF chairperson and member of the party board, also declines to take over after Muharrem Demirok.
"Absolutely not current", she writes in a text message to Expressen.
The Center Party will hold an extraordinary meeting on May 3 to elect a new party leader.
