The police investigation into damage to a data cable off the east coast of Gotland, within Sweden's economic zone, continued on Saturday.
The Coast Guard has vessels on site. We are assisting the police, says the Coast Guard's press service.
The police announced on Friday that a preliminary investigation into sabotage had been initiated. There were no suspects at the time. The police press service had no new information to report on the investigation's results by Saturday morning.
The cable runs between Germany and Finland. The company that owns the cable, Cinia, has confirmed the damage but emphasizes that it is minor.
"Data traffic continues as normal", Cinia wrote in an email to TT on Friday.
According to the Finnish newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet, this is the third time in a short period that the cable has been damaged.
