On Wednesday, October 9, SJ releases this year's train tickets ahead of winter, and they can be purchased from 9 am.

If there is high demand, we have a queuing system. You can be placed in a queue to relieve the system, but it often only takes a few minutes, says Sales Manager Eva Nord.

Dynamic Pricing

SJ releases tickets for 22,568 departures. Dynamic pricing applies, which means you may need to be quick to snag the cheapest tickets ahead of major holidays.

It starts with a lowest price, and then it's supply and demand. If you buy your ticket early, you have a greater chance of getting a cheap ticket.

Flexible Dates

It's also a good idea to be flexible when it comes to travel dates if you want to keep prices down.

The night trains to Narvik from Stockholm, via Umeå and Kiruna, among others, will be operated by SJ from December 15, having previously been operated by Vy.

The tickets being released concern SJ's train journeys between December 15 and March 17.

High-speed train operator VR, which recently changed its name from MTRX, released Christmas tickets already during the summer, but due to high demand, they are now releasing over 17,000 additional tickets, according to a press release.
