Borgholm's method of attracting increased childbearing, a gift check to all new parents, is rejected in court, reports P4 Kalmar.
So far, 14-15 checks of 2,500 kronor each have been distributed and can be redeemed in local stores. However, the Administrative Court believes that the distribution of checks violates the Local Government Act. Compensation can only be paid for things that are of general interest or if an individual needs assessment has been made.
Municipal Councilor Ilko Corkovic (S) tells SVT News Småland that a few more children have been born in Borgholm Municipality this year than last year.
