Peter and Barbie Reynolds, 79 and 75 years old, respectively, are said to have been arrested in Bamiyan province earlier in February. The couple has lived in Afghanistan for nearly 20 years and chose to stay after the Taliban regained power in 2021.
Their daughter claims that she has not heard from her parents for over two weeks. The father is also said to need heart medication after a stroke.

Peter and Barbie Reynolds ran, among other things, a project focusing on education for mothers and their children. The extremely religious Taliban has forbidden women from working and studying, but according to British media, the Reynolds' project had been approved by local authorities despite this.
