A "good, productive meeting with the British Prime Minister" writes Zelenskyj on X on Thursday afternoon, after the two leaders were seen hugging each other outside number 10 Downing Street. He writes that today's meeting face to face followed in the same track as yesterday's and mentions that they discussed security guarantees and access to weapons.
In a statement from Starmer's office, it is stated that there is a chance for "progress" at the Alaska meeting "as long as Putin acts to show that he is serious when it comes to peace", reports BBC.
Zelenskyj and Starmer will have close contact in the coming days, adds Starmer's office.
The meeting in London follows digital consultations on Wednesday between, among others, several European leaders, US President Donald Trump and his Vice President J D Vance. And they were held in turn due to the summit between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, which will take place in the US state on Friday, where the two leaders will discuss a ceasefire in Ukraine.
The European leaders were unanimous on Wednesday: No decisions about Ukraine's future may be made without Ukraine.
Trump has opened up to the possibility that a three-party meeting between him, Putin, and Zelenskyj could be held, if the meeting with Putin "goes okay".
