The sequel to Tim Burton's horror comedy "Beetlejuice" opens the film festival in Venice, reports Variety. On August 28, "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" has its world premiere at the festival.
The sequel comes 36 years after the first film's premiere in 1988. Michael Keaton returns in the lead role as Betelgeuse, and stars alongside, among others, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Justin Theroux, and Jenna Ortega.
"'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' marks the long-awaited return of one of Tim Burton's most iconic characters", says Alberto Barbera, artistic director, in a press release.
The Venice Film Festival takes place between August 28 and September 7.
