The German historical TV drama "Babylon Berlin" has been renewed for a fifth and final season, reports Hollywood Reporter.
The announcement comes after more than a year of protracted negotiations and financing difficulties.
The award-winning series, which premiered in 2017, is set in interwar Germany and follows police officer Gereon Rath and his assistant Charlotte Ritter.
In the final season, viewers will follow the main characters during the Nazi takeover of the country in 1933.
"Babylon Berlin ends with one of the most exciting and tragic phases in recent German history, where democracy is undermined in just a few weeks without society really understanding what is happening," says one of the series' creators, Jörg Schönenborn, in a statement.
The season is based on the fifth part of author Volker Kutscher's novel series about police officer Rath.
