The 22-year-old Austrian led after the first round and withstood the pressure when he then jumped to victory in front of a packed audience in the German ski resort.

Tschofenig won clearly with 298.9 points – 8.6 more than the Swiss second-place finisher Gregor Deschwanden.

The Austrian dominance has been great in the two initial competitions. In Oberstdorf, it was a triple victory, with Tschofenig in third place.

In the traditional New Year's Day jumping, he was accompanied by teammate Michael Hayböck on the podium. Hayböck set a new hill record – 145 meters – in the first round and finished third.

The Ski Jumping Week now leaves German territory for two final competitions in Austria: Innsbruck on Saturday and Bischofshofen on Monday.

Daniel Tschofenig leads the overall standings, which an Austrian has not won since the turn of the year 2014–15.
