A man was stabbed at around 17:00 on Saturday evening in a villa area in Billdal, just south of Gothenburg. The incident is being classified as attempted murder.
The search for the perpetrator, who fled on foot, was still ongoing at 20:00.
Following tips from the public, the police have carried out several identity checks in the area. One of those checked, a man in his 30s, has been taken in for questioning.
There are some circumstances that suggest it could be the right guy, says Morten Gunneng, duty officer with the police, to TT.
But it's not enough for an arrest at present, he's been brought in for questioning on a lower degree of suspicion. Therefore, we're also continuing the search.
The victim, who is also in his 30s, was initially treated at the scene by ambulance personnel but was later taken to Sahlgrenska Hospital. His injuries are minor, according to the hospital's press office for Gothenburg Post.
According to witness statements, the motive is currently unclear.
We have several witnesses, and no one can name the perpetrator or describe any background to the incident. It seems to have happened quite unexpectedly, says Morten Gunneng, duty officer with the police, to TT.
